The Rune · regional history
Begin with the Blessed Isles as a living place. Their libraries, protected knowledge and white mist establish what was lost. Without that earlier view, the Shadow Isles can seem to have always existed as a landscape of ruins and specters.
Continue with Viego, Isolde and the catastrophe itself. Kalista, Hecarim and Thresh provide different positions within the fall, while Yorick and Maokai reveal the resistance that survives afterward. Their personal accounts should follow the regional event rather than stand in for its entire history.
Then move beyond the islands. Harrowings bring the Black Mist into the lives of coastal communities, and Lucian and Senna lead into the struggle of the Sentinels. These later conflicts occur after the ancient Ruination; they are consequences of the wound, not alternative descriptions of its beginning.
The novel Ruination offers a longer treatment of the earlier tragedy, with its public prologue identified separately as an excerpt. The readings in this archive keep the broad sequence visible so you can move between the place, the catastrophe and its survivors without confusing a book preview, a champion biography and a regional history.
