Reading in The Rune
Read every champion biography in a continuous column inside the profile, with available videos at the top, followed by identity, regional context, artwork and connections. Source links appear after the reading. The archive also contains 45 original editorial chronicles and regional dossiers.
All 174 profiles contain their complete selected biography: 172 are attributed Riot Universe texts, while 2 are The Rune’s developed narrative accounts. The publisher or author is identified above the text. Original reading notes accompany the official biographies. Their length follows the available material; a short official biography is not expanded with invented events. The written-story archive now includes 242 complete attributed readings in this site. Song lyrics and the separately published novel excerpt remain clearly identified publication references. Regional histories, world chronology and reading collections use the same illustrated reader.
What is covered?
Checked September 8, 2026: 173 League of Legends champions, plus Norra from the wider Universe catalog; 244 written works; 44 comic issues, one-shots and series entries; 121 videos; 600 distinct gallery images. No written-work entry from the checked Explore catalog is omitted. Series and their issues are separate entries, not separate completed series.
Runeterra and alternate settings
230 written works are catalogued under the Runeterra archive and 14 under alternate settings. Star Guardian, PROJECT, K/DA, Elderwood, Pentakill, Dark Star, Pulsefire, Odyssey and High Noon are labelled separately. The archive also contains lyrics, a fictional interview and a novel prologue; its total is not a count of short stories alone.
Canon changes over time
Riot announced in October 2023 that new storytelling would share one canon, while acknowledging existing inconsistencies and gradual updates. An older Universe page can therefore describe an earlier narrative state. We preserve its publication identity rather than silently declaring all of its details current. In particular, read older Piltover, Zaun and Demacia accounts alongside later publications.

Relationships need evidence
Riot’s associated-character links are labelled as associations. They do not automatically establish friendship, kinship or rivalry. Typed relationships cite the biography that describes them. Their labels summarize that published account and are not a claim that every later adaptation portrays the relationship identically. Regional labels come from Riot’s champion records, including a Runeterra category for characters beyond one region.
Official artwork
Character splashes, regional illustrations and gallery images use the image URLs supplied in Riot’s publication metadata. Local character icons are retained from the existing collection. Each gallery entry links to its source, and image dimensions preserve the published proportions. Fan-art gallery modules are excluded. Image titles and publication sources are not a substitute for an individual artist credit when one is not supplied.
Beyond the Universe snapshot
The media library also includes Riot Forge games, Legends of Runeterra, books, Arcane, newer cinematics and verified official champion presentations. These supplements do not change the count of written works in the original snapshot. Video subjects come from Riot’s profile modules, named publication titles or verified official video metadata.
Limits of the census
These totals describe the checked Universe catalogs, not every page, game asset or publication Riot has ever produced. Books and Arcane have a separate entry point. A catalog with zero missing entries within this snapshot is not a promise that no future work will appear.
